LYNDEN, Wash. – It is time to load up those horses and sharpen your plows.

The International Plowing Match returns this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Berthusen Park in Lynden.

Plowmen, and women, from around the world will be on hand to showcase their mighty draft horses and plowing skills.

This year’s event features two-horse teams using traditional horse-drawn plowing methods.

Plowers will be judged in categories like best finish, best in-and-out, and best firmness and packing.

Last year’s winners include Trey Shagren of Lynden and Whitnee Denson of Everson in the adult divisions, and Jake Cramer of Lynden won in the youth division.

Food trucks will be on the scene and there will also be an award show and a Hall of Fame presentation.

The International Plowing Match is an annual event that started up way back in 1942.
