Gas prices still high but drop slightly after holiday weekend

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – With Labor Day Weekend in the rearview mirror, gas prices are starting to cool off.

AAA reports that Whatcom County drivers are paying an average of $4.95 for a regular gallon of gas.

It has only dropped by two cents compared to last week, but prices are seeing bigger dips statewide and across the country.

The state average is $5.08, also down two cents from a week ago.

And Skagit County has some of the better prices in the state, with an average gallon of gas going for $4.83.
