Man arrested for starting large fire in downtown Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man was arrested after allegedly starting a large fire in downtown Bellingham.

Bellingham Police say the suspect has also been accused of setting smaller fires within 24 hours of the massive blaze.

Officers and fire crews were called to tackle the larger fire on Central Avenue at around 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19th.

The suspect, 35-year-old Grafton Proveaue, was located nearby and taken into custody.

He remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
