BELINGHAM, Wash. – PeaceHealth says they are working to accommodate all patients who will be impacted by the closing of its Asthma and Allergy Clinic in Bellingham later this year.

A PeaceHealth spokesperson says the clinic currently treats about 4,200 patients, most of whom have minor asthma or seasonal or environmental allergies.

Roughly 600 patients have severe asthma, allergies, or immunology issues.

PeaceHealth’s other specialized clinics should be able to accomodate them, including those who are covered by Medicaid.

The spokesperson says some patients may need to travel outside of Bellingham for treatment, but they are working to minimize that number.

The clinic closure is part of cost cutting measures taken by PeaceHealth to offset financial shortfalls they and other Washington health care providers are experiencing.
