Police continue search for Ferndale murder suspect

FERNDALE, Wash. – We’re learning more about the events that led to the shooting death of a Ferndale businessman.

According to court documents, officers responded around noon on Thursday, July 7th, to reports of the shooting at Pioneer Post and Frame on Portal Way.

An employee told officers that the suspect, 49-year-old Todd D. Andersen, asked to speak with the owner, 58-year-old Douglas Scoggins.

Scoggins brought Andersen into his office, where they spoke for 20-30 minutes before the employee began to hear gunshots.

Andersen fled the office, yelling that Scoggins “stole from him.”

The employee found Scoggins dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Andersen remains at large and is being sought for 1st degree murder.

He’s believed to be driving a rented 2020 Silver Dodge Challenger with Oregon plates 553MJM.

Andersen is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information about his location is asked to call 911.
