BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Social media images about a weapon possibly on or near campus caused Squalicum High School to take security measures Tuesday morning, March 28th.

The Bellingham School District says the school went on lockdown with lights out, everyone quiet and out of sight at 9:50 a.m.

Bellingham Police responded quickly and determined no threats were made to students or staff and no weapon was present.

The school transitioned to “lockout” at 10:15 a.m., allowing normal activities to resume behind locked doors.

The lockout was lifted at about 10:30 a.m.

The school says it has resources available to students or families who need support.
