BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman made a stop in Bellingham Wednesday as she tours the state, urging every eligible voter to get their ballots in.
“People turn out in droves for president, when the president really doesn’t affect our daily life,” Wyman said. She said this year’s general election focuses on local offices and issues which have a huge impact on our lives.
“The city council member who decides how good your roads are going to be, or school board member who decides what books your kids read in school, those are the elections that are coming up and the ones that most people don’t participate in,” Wyman said.
Wyman said off-year elections like this one generally have lower voter turnout.
Your ballot must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 7th, or dropped off in one of the ballot boxes around the county by 8:00 Tuesday evening.
