BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A jury has found a Fairhaven woman guilty of a 2021 murder.

Court documents state that 67-year-old Lynda Mercy was found guilty of second-degree murder in Whatcom County Superior Court on Monday, Feb. 23.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that in April of 2021, the body of Thomas Flood was found with two gunshot wounds near Semiahmoo Park in Blaine. Flood was a transient man from Langley, WA, who lived out of his van.

Mercy took the van after the murder, and surveillance cameras later caught her parking and abandoning it at a Fairhaven church. Video footage also saw her wearing various wigs to avoid being caught, but carrying the same distinct bag and cane.

She was arrested roughly a week after Flood’s body was found. Her sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, March 5.
