Blaine man arrested, cyclist hospitalized following crash

CUSTER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A bicyclist was hospitalized and a man is in custody following a crash near Custer.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says that a car hit the cyclist at around 5 Thursday morning, Sept. 3 on Birch Bay Lynden Rd.

Crews transported the unidentified cyclist to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, and the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The driver, a 56-year-old man from Blaine, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and DUI.

He was booked into the Whatcom County Jail after being treated for injuries at PeaceHealth.
