BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Blaine man has been convicted of trying to kill his former partner.

A jury found 44-year-old Clayton Dubois guilty of attempted murder in Whatcom County Superior Court on Monday.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that Dubois dropped the woman off at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham following the brutal assault in August 2024. He told Bellingham Police he tried to kill her earlier that day by hitting her with propane tanks before he had a “change of heart” and drove her to the hospital.

Dubois had consumed methamphetamine and other drugs before the attack, which left the woman with multiple facial fractures, a broken elbow and broken ribs.

His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 18 and he faces up to life in prison.
