BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Blaine man was sentenced on Monday morning after nearly killing his former partner.

44-year-old Clayton Dubois will spend just over 15 years in prison for the brutal assault he carried out in August 2024.

KGMI previously reported that a jury found Dubois guilty of attempted murder in August following a four-day trial.

Dubois told Bellingham Police that he tried to kill his then-girlfriend by hitting her with propane tanks before he had a “change of heart” and drove her to the hospital.

He had consumed methamphetamine and other drugs before the attack, which left the woman with multiple facial fractures, a broken elbow and broken ribs.

Dubois will not be allowed to make contact with the woman after he’s released from prison.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic/sexual violence, call 800-656-HOPE (4673) to reach the National Sexual Assault Hotline.
