BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Canadians and Americans will gather at the Peace Arch to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Northwest 9/11 Memorial ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Friday and is expected to draw more than 400 first responders, military personnel, public officials and community members from both sides of the border.

Special guests include four New York first responders who served on Sept. 11, 2001.

The event will include memorial observances, a Homeland Security helicopter flyover plus Canadian and American first responders standing together beneath the Peace Arch.

Motorcycle and vehicle processions from both Canada and Washington state will arrive at the memorial ahead of the ceremony.

A community barbecue will follow the ceremony at Peach Arch Provincial Park.
