BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It’s about to get more expensive to park your car in Fairhaven.

The City of Bellingham announced that parts of the neighborhood will transition from 2-hour parking to paid parking starting on Jan. 5, 2026.

The changes will take place on parts of Larrabee Avenue, Harris Avenue and 11th to 13th streets.

The city says the change is being made to encourage drivers to only use the time they need when parking.

It’s expecting that the paid parking will leave more open spaces in Fairhaven throughout the day and offer better access to local businesses.

Only areas that are currently limited to 2-hour parking will be affected.
