BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – One of Bellingham’s most popular parks is getting a major makeover for kids.
Bellingham Parks and Recreation says the playground at Bloedel-Donovan Park will be closed for upgrades starting on Monday, Aug. 25.
It’s expected to reopen at some point in October.
During construction, the playground will get separate equipment for young children and school-aged kids.

The new play area will have over 40 play features, including slides, climbers, swings and 11 elevated features that are ramp accessible to wheelchairs.
According to the city, it’s been over 25 years since the existing playground got an upgrade.
