BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Are you looking to add another tree to your property?

Free saplings could be yours for the taking next week.

The City of Bellingham’s Community Tree Programs will be offering hundreds of tree saplings at the Bellingham Farmer’s Market on Nov. 29.

Trees up for grabs include Mountain Hemlock, Paper Birch and Shore Pine species, among other native varieties.

The tree giveaway is part of the city’s effort to improve tree canopy cover, which can help reduce temperatures in warmer months.
