WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Donations are being sought as blood supply is cratering at dangerous levels.

Bloodworks NW has declared a “Code Red,” meaning that demand for donations is outweighing their current supply. They’re urging people to donate if they’re eligible, stating that they need at least 1000 donations per day to get their supply back to functional levels.

The American Red Cross issued a similar alert, saying their June blood donations were down about 25% nationally.

Those eligible to donate can schedule an appointment at the Bloodworks NW facility on W Bakerview Road in Bellingham.

Additional mobile blood drives have also been scheduled around the county, including Point Roberts and Lynden.
