BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Don’t worry if your tap water looks a little cloudy this week.
The City of Bellingham began their annual watermain flushing program Monday, April 1 to keep the water system running smoothly.
The city said the flushing is essential to removing mineral deposits that build up naturally in pipes.
Water will still be safe to drink, though residents might see temporary discoloration or reduced pressure during the process. If your water looks cloudy, the city advises running a cold tap for a few minutes to clear the lines.
The flushing happens weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and will continue through May.
