EVERSON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An Everson man convicted of providing drugs to and sexually assaulting a minor has been sentenced.

48-year-old Arturo Vargas Navarro will spend over 11 years in prison, followed by another 4 years of community custody.

Navarro approached a girl at a bus stop in March 2023 and asked her if she wanted to do drugs with him. Within the course of several hours, Navarro provided the teen with crystal meth, marijuana, alcohol and fentanyl.

He also repeatedly attempted to pressure the girl into having sex with him. Navarro had his friends drive the victim to a home where he sexually assaulted her.

In the days that followed, Navarro gave the victim more drugs in exchange for explicit images and electronics.

Following his sentence, Navarro is required to register as a sex offender.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic/sexual violence, call 800-656-HOPE (4673) to reach the National Sexual Assault Hotline.
