MLB Playoffs News

The Tampa Bay Rays have life in the World Series.

Former Mariner Ben Williamson hit a pinch-hit, walk-off single in the 12th inning of Game 4 last night to lift the Rays over the Brewers 4-3 and help Tampa avoid the sweep.

They became just the fourth team in World Series history to stave off elimination with an extra-inning comeback.

The Brewers will have another chance to secure their first-ever championship tonight in St. Petersburg. National League Cy Young frontrunner Jacob Misiorowski is taking the mound for the Brewers, while the Rays are starting Puyallup-native Drew Rasmussen

Coverage for Game 5 begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5 on KPUG.

Kraken News

The Kraken are back tonight.

They’re wrapping up their homestand against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Seattle has won two of their three matches over the homestand, but are coming off a lopsided loss to the Minnesota Wild.

The Maple Leafs have won four of their last five and own a nearly identical record to the Kraken.

Coverage for tonight’s match begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KGMI.

Sounders News

The Sounders are facing a critical test tonight as their regular season hits the home stretch.

They’re hosting the Houston Dynamo in their third-to-last match before the playoffs.

Seattle currently owns the 7th-best record in the Western Conference and has nearly clinched one of the conference’s nine playoff berths. But they’ll want to hold onto a top seven record in the West, as the 8th and 9th seeds will have to play a win-or-go-home wild card match.

The Dynamo are sitting more comfortably with the 5th-best record in the West.

It comes as the Sounders are playing some of their best soccer lately, having lost just one of their last 12 matches.

Tonight’s match starts at 7:30 from Lumen Field.

Prep Girls Soccer News

The prep girls soccer playoffs are underway in Whatcom County.

Lynden blanked Sultan 8-0 last night to kick off the 2A district tournament.

Today, 5th-seeded Squalicum is playing 4th-seeded Burlington-Edison in Anacortes at 3:30.

Coming up tonight, top-seeded Bellingham is hosting 8th-seeded Lakewood at 7:00 and 2nd-seeded Sehome is hosting 7th-seeded Lynden, also at 7.

The 3A district tournament starts tomorrow, but Ferndale has a first-round bye and will host the winner of Marysville-Getchell and Edmonds-Woodway at noon on Saturday.

The 1A district tourney kicks off next Monday, when Blaine hosts Mount Baker in a loser-out match.

Meanwhile, the 2A district volleyball playoffs start on Saturday before the 3A and 1A tournaments get underway next week.
