FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A popular park in Ferndale is back open after a more than month-long closure.

Whatcom County Parks and Recreation announced on Friday, Jan. 30 that Hovander Park has reopened.

The park was closed on Dec. 10 due to flooding at the Nooksack River.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that the boat launch parking lot and off-leash dog area were the only two areas that were accessible to visitors this month.

But now nearly the entire park is back open, with the exception of the playground.

Parks and Rec says additional repair work is still ongoing in some areas and is asking people to be mindful of posted signage while visiting.
