WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – We are just one week away from Ski to Sea weekend, but this weekend there are a couple of fun multi-day events happening in Whatcom County.

First off, it’s the Mt. Baker Kennel Club’s Northwest Cluster Dog Shows.

This is a four-day event up in Lynden featuring four All Breed dog shows, six Obedience and Rally Trials and a National Owner-Handler Series. You can also check out the Fast Cat Trials Saturday through Monday and the CGC and Trick Dog competition on Saturday and Sunday. So, head on up to the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden this weekend to support our furry little friends… and their trainers, of course. Find all the details on the NWW Fair’s website.

While you’re up there, you can check out the 82nd annual International Plowing Match at Berthusen Park. Read all about that here.

We have got a ton of cool local music for you to enjoy this weekend. West Sound Fest runs Friday through Sunday at multiple venues in Bellingham, including the Blue Room on Holly St. Bands like Pure Halcyon, Foxy Apollo, Pant Suit Guy, Under the Rocks and Smithers will grace the stage each night to get you dancing, moshing and/or stomping your feet. What better way to celebrate the music of Bellingham and the PNW?

Most of the shows are all ages and cost around $10. Go to blueroombham.com to get tickets.

Not to be outdone by the City of Subdued Excitement, there’s an epic show happening up in Ferndale tomorrow. It’s Rock the Nest Fest at Ferndale High School! Enjoy a family-friendly street festival from 4 – 7 p.m. with food trucks, street vendors and family fun. Then at 7:30 you can check out the new football stadium where Petty or Not will perform covers of Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac.

Proceeds from Rock the Nest go to the Ferndale Public Schools Foundation, an organization that supports Ferndale students by removing financial barriers in education. For more information and to buy tickets, go to the Ferndale Public Schools Foundation website.

If you can’t make those events, or just want to keep it rocking all weekend long, our featured live show this weekend is going to be just as epic. Portland’s Blitzen Trapper is performing at the Shakedown in downtown Bellingham.

The indie rock revivalist will bring their “explosive live performance” to State St. at 8 p.m. on Sunday. Opening for Blitzen Trapper is another great indie rock band, Small Paul. For tickets, go the shakedownbellingham.com.
