WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Are you in need of some fun things to do this weekend in Whatcom County? Fear not. We have you covered in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

It’s a perfect weekend to head up to the Lynden Heritage Museum. With over 20,000 items on display, the museum offers a hands-on look at the culture and history of Whatcom County’s third largest city.

On Saturday, Jan. 31, the Lynden Heritage Museum is hosting a special free National Kazoo Day event from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone who attends will get a free kazoo, learn how to play the “instrument” and have a great old time doing it. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks to share with leftovers going to the Lynden Youth Pantry.

If you are in the Blaine area on Friday, Jan. 30 and you are looking for a good laugh and delicious food, you are in luck. Semiahmoo Resort is hosting Comedy-ahmoo at Great Blue Heron featuring Andrew Sleighter.

Sleighter has performed on Last Comic Standing, Dry Bar Comedy and Conan. Dinner reservations start at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. For all the details and to reserve a spot, go to semiahmoo.com.

It is almost February and that means it is time to start thinking about what you are going to plant in your garden this year.

Garden Spot Nursery in Bellingham (900 Alabama St.) is hosting Planning Your Veggie Garden on Saturday at 10 a.m. Learn about companion planting, selecting the best veggies for our area, start seeds and more.

Planning Your Veggie Garden is a free event. For all the details, go to garden-spot.com.

We have two featured live shows for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

First up, it’s a night of heavy rock at Shakedown on Friday night. Witch Ripper will rock your socks off with their brand of progressive heavy metal. Fans of Ghost, Mastodon and Deftones don’t want to miss this one.

Witch Ripper is playing with Mother Crone and Feral Moon. For tickets, go to shakedownbellingham.com.

Next up, it’s a night of neo soul at the Wild Buffalo on Saturday. Tank and The Bangas fuses funk, soul, spoken work and hip hop into a seductive New Orleans sound. Attendees won’t be able to resist shaking that thang and dancing the night away.
