BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Three passengers remain hospitalized following Thursday’s commercial seaplane crash at Sucia Island.

Kenmore Airlines said one person is being treated at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham and two are at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Seven other passengers and the pilot have all been released from medical facilities.

No other information about the pilot or passengers is being released at this time.

The Otter float plane went down near the entrance to Shallow Bay on the popular island at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

It had taken off from Union Bay in Seattle and was destined for Roche Harbor on San Juan Island.

The NTSB is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Kenmore said in a statement that there was a weather system in the area at the time and the pilot had adjusted the flight path because of it. It’s unknown if that contributed to the crash and Kenmore said any determination of the cause will be made by the NTSB’s investigation.

The airline said the plane was current on required inspections.
