More FEMA flood assistance centers opening this weekend

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Some pop-up assistance centers are opening up this weekend for December flood victims.

FEMA Region 10 will have three community events this weekend in addition to their ongoing Disaster Assistance Centers across Whatcom County.

An outreach team will be at the Ferndale Pavilion Community Center Saturday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This is in addition to the Disaster Assistance Center in the same location, which remains open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Another team will help flood victims Sunday at the EN Farmers Market in Everson from 8:30 a.m. 3 p.m.

A third location will be available for the full weekend in the Ellis Dentistry Parking Lot off the Mt Baker Hwy from noon to 6 p.m. both days.

For those unable to make this weekend’s events, FEMA remains available at the Sumas Advent Christian Church and at A Watered Garden Family Learning Center in Everson.

The deadline to apply for FEMA or SBA financial assistance is June 10.
