BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Mount Baker Theatre has announced the schedule for its 100th season.

The theatre’s largest season in its history features more than 35 main stage acts starting next month and lasting through May 2027.

The landmark lineup kicks off on July 2 with Pacific Northwest-based rock band Modest Mouse, which has already sold out.

The rest of the schedule includes an evening with Bill Nye, the return of Tony award-winning musical Hadestown, a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band and much more.

The theatre will also be screening “Slide, Kelly, Slide”—the first film it ever showed—complete with a live pipe organ score on the day of its 100th anniversary in April 2027. According to Marketing Director Lorin O’Grady, that organ is Mount Baker’s original Wurlitzer pipe organ, which has been recently restored.

During a press conference Friday, June 5 ahead of the announcement made Monday, officials from the theatre’s staff talked about the meaning of the centennial season.

“I’m reminded that the Mount Baker Theater has never belonged to one generation. It belongs to our community. It exists today because the people of Bellingham believed in this place enough to preserve, restore and re-imagine it again and again,” O’Grady said.

Interim Executive Director John van Keppel and Program Director Renee Gaumond noted the programming spans various genres and types of entertainment.

“[The patrons] want a theatre that represents who they are,” van Keppel said during the press conference. He added that the theatre could not operate without the help of over 140 volunteers.

Gaumond said more programming will be added to the already record-breaking 36 main stage shows and six lookout sessions for the upcoming season. By the theatre’s count, 29 different genres of entertainment will be featured in the upcoming season.

Season tickets go on sale for theatre members on June 29 before opening to the general public on July 6.
