OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new survey is offering Washingtonians the opportunity to comment on a new state agency.

Gov. Bob Ferguson created a task force last December to evaluate how to create a Department of Housing for Washington.

The push to create a department came after 2024 housing stock evaluations found Washington facing a greater housing shortage than many states across the country.

Ferguson named housing as one of his priorities when he took office last year.

Lt. Gov. Denny Heck spearheads this task force that has mostly officials from state agencies.

Respondents to the survey will offer input on resources for housing-related issues and what did or did not work in their own interactions with housing services.

The task force will submit a recommendation report by mid-November, taking survey responses into account in the final report.

The survey is open until Sunday, April 26.
