BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new exhibit at the Whatcom Museum is honoring a broadcasting trailblazer from Bellingham.

The museum’s newest exhibit celebrates the life and legacy of Elaine Horn through more than 80 photographs that span her three-decade career.

“It is our honor to showcase Elaine Horn’s story through more than 80 photographs that truly capture an era,” said Whatcom Museum Acting Executive Director Maria Coltharp. “Beyond her role as a dynamic TV personality, Horn was a career woman at a time when that was not a common feat, and she shared the spotlight by centering women in her work.” 

Horn began her career in radio in the 1940s but transitioned to television in 1962 when she hosted “Woman’s World” on KVOS.

The museum credits the show as one of the earliest daytime-TV shows that targeted women.

Horn’s gift for improvisation and skills as an interviewer helped her appeal to audiences from Vancouver, B.C. to as far south as Everett.

The exhibit opens on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Old City Hall.
