BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Bellingham City Council voted to allow additional noise while a crew works on enhancing the Boulevard Park shoreline and public access at Monday’s Regular Meeting.

The construction will start in the fall and take place at night, while the tides are at their lowest. Intermittent noise will be allowed between the start of October and the end of December.

Engineers are unable to give an estimate of how frequent night work will be at this time because it is dependent on the conditions of the day.

Councilmember Edwin Williams said at the meeting that the timing choices minimize potential impacts on park users.

In 2021, significant shoreline erosion occurred at the site during the storm season. Park staff put up hazard fencing and signage to prevent injuries and further damage.

Construction on the project was delayed in 2024 and is currently waiting for the busy summer season to end.
