The University of Michigan has fired its head football coach.
The school announced that it’s axing Sherrone Moore today after an investigation that found “credible evidence” he was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
Michigan went 9-3 this season and finished 18th in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Overall, Moore went 18-8 as the team’s coach after replacing Jim Harbaugh.
Kraken News
The Kraken are closing out their homestand tonight with a chance to snap their brutal skid.
Seattle’s hosting the LA Kings days after dropping their sixth-straight game. They’ll have to be on their A-game against a Kings squad that owns the third-best record in the Pacific Division, while the Kraken are tied for second-to-last.

Another major domino has fallen in MLB free agency.
ESPN reports that the Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a 5-year, $155 million deal with former Mets first baseman Pete Alonso. Alonso had 37 home runs and 126 RBI in his best output since his rookie season.
In an unforeseen twist, ESPN reports the Mets did not make an offer to the 5x All Star, who leaves as their all-time leader in home runs.
Mariners News
Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto has been named Executive of the Year by Baseball America.
Dipoto helped build an M’s squad that won their first division title since 2001 and led the team’s closest push ever to a World Series appearance. He now becomes the second person in franchise history to receive the honor.
It comes as the winter meetings are set to end today amid reports that free agent Jorge Polanco is expected to make a decision before they commence.
HS Athletics News
The WIAA has released a list of 35 proposed amendments that it will consider early next year. Among them is an amendment sent by several Whatcom County schools that would require private schools with 90 students or more to opt up to the next classification.
Meridian, Blaine, Mount Baker, Nooksack Valley and Lummi Nation all submitted the proposal. They say private schools have a structural advantage among other schools of their enrollment size and claim the change is needed to protect competitive balance.
The change would not impact private schools currently at the 2A, 3A, or 4A levels, since those schools already opt up one classification voluntarily.
If approved, it would likely affect Lynden Christian among other schools, which has dominated the Northwest Conference 1A league in many different sports.

The Lynden girls opened their season with a 78-7 drubbing of Oak Harbor.
The Lynden boys added a 72-46 win over Oak Harbor.
The Lynden Christian boys thumped Mount Vernon 70-39.
The LC girls followed with a 70-46 win over the Bulldogs.
The Sehome girls fell to Stanwood 49-31.
The Ferndale boys lost to Anacortes 72-56.
And the Ferndale girls topped Anacortes 64-55.
Coming up tonight…
The Bellingham boys host Blaine.
The Blaine girls host Bellingham.
The Mount Baker boys and girls each host Friday Harbor.
And the Ferndale boys are on the road against Mariner.
Both of Nooksack Valley’s games against Lakewood have been called off.
