Mariners News
The Mariners are looking to bounce back today after a disappointing weekend series in New York. The M’s dropped two of their three games against the Mets, including a 7-3 loss yesterday in the MLB’s Little League Classic.
Mark Vientos broke the game open in the fifth inning with a 3-run homer and the Mets hammered George Kirby for a season-high seven runs
On the bright side, Cal Raleigh hit his major league-leading 47th home run of the season. He’s just one away from tying Salvador Perez for the most homers in a season by a catcher.
Seattle is hitting the final leg of its East Coast road trip today against Philadelphia. The Phillies were just dealt a major blow when they placed ace Zack Wheeler on the 15-day injured list due to a blood clot in his right arm with no timetable for his return.
First pitch for today’s series opener is at 3:45 on KPUG with Logan Gilbert taking the mound.
Meanwhile, Victor Robles could face a suspension for a viral incident yesterday. Robles was ejected from a game with Triple-A Tacoma after he was nearly hit by a pitch and threw his bat at the pitcher. He was immediately ejected from the game.
Robles, who was hit by a pitch three times in his previous four games with the Rainiers, continued to take some steps toward the mound while yelling at the pitcher but was held back by the umpire and opposing teammates. After going into the dugout, he threw a box of snacks toward the field before heading to the clubhouse.
Robles apologized for the incident afterwards on social media. He’s still rehabbing from a dislocated left shoulder he suffered in April.

Next up for Seattle, it will host Puebla on Wednesday in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, the Reign are hosting the Chicago Stars at 7:00 tonight.
Storm News
The Storms’ woes continued over the weekend.
Seattle edged the Atlanta Dream 80-78 on Friday to snap its season-long six-game skid. But they followed it up with an 85-82 loss to the Phoenix Mercury last night. Nneka Ogwumike led both teams with 24 points, but the Storm couldn’t survive a rough shooting night to fall back under .500 on the season.
They’re in the midst of a major rough patch, where all their games have been tight Seven of their last eight games have decided by less than five points.
The Storm will look to bounce back tomorrow night when they travel to Chicago to face the Sky.
It comes as the team unveiled a statue of Storm legend Sue Bird outside of Climate Pledge Arena before yesterday’s game. She’s the first WNBA player to be honored with a statue.
