ORCAS ISLAND, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An Orcas Island woman taken into custody by the Israeli military has been released.

King5 reports that Jasmine Ikeda landed at Boeing Field on Sunday after spending several days in an Israeli detention facility.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that she was among over 500 activists who led a flotilla attempting to deliver food and other aid to Gaza.

Israel’s military intercepted the flotilla and detained its members on Oct. 1.

Ikeda told King5 that she and others were held at gunpoint on the deck of the boat for over 20 hours before being transferred to a holding cell on land. There, she said that soldiers with cameras went around distributing water and aid.

But off-camera, Ikeda said that she witnessed other flotilla members beaten and shoved to the ground.

She was released from military custody not long before an agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas.

U.S. Representative Rick Larsen said earlier this month that he had been in touch with Ikeda’s family but has not yet commented following her release.
