BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Police are investigating an apparent vandalism at one of Bellingham’s newest outdoor features.

Bellingham Parks and Recreation spokesperson David Brauhn said that over the weekend, a handful of 911 callers reported hearing either fireworks or gunshots near Little Squalicum Pier.

A portion of the pier was later found to be damaged.

City officials are now determining the best timeline to repair the vandalized section.

For now, the pier remains open, but people are being asked to exercise reasonable caution around the damaged area.
