BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham’s waterfront is making way for more traffic.

The Port of Bellingham says that they’re extending the parking lot towards the intersection of Granary Avenue and Chestnut Street.

Over 100 new parking spaces will be added, giving more people the opportunity to explore the Granary Building, pump track and the Portal Container Village. There are only about 100 spaces available in the current lot.

The extension comes ahead of this summer’s World Cup, during which a Fan Zone will be running at the Waterfront.

A timeline for the parking lot extension work has not yet been announced.
