BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham is taking a page from of this major PNW hub and adding public bathrooms downtown.

The city recently announced the installation of a “Portland Loo” at Waypoint Park. The Portland Loo is a free, stand-alone restroom that’s specially designed to combat many of the problems typically associated with public bathrooms. It features graffiti-proof wall panels to discourage any kind of vandalism and open grating to keep it fresh.

The bathroom’s gender-neutral design and its wide space for wheelchairs or strollers also make it easily accessible to anyone who wants to use it.

Waypoint’s Portland Loo is scheduled to open this March, with two more being planned for installation in other parts of downtown Bellingham later this year.
