WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Results from this month’s primary election in Whatcom County have been certified.
According to the county auditor, just over 31% of registered voters turned out for the August primary.
Elizabeth Boyle and Maya Morales will vie for the county council’s District 2 seat in the general election on Nov. 4.
Kyle Christensen, the former mayor of Sumas, will face off against Jessica Rienstra for the council’s District 3 seat after incumbent Tyler Byrd was ousted in the voting.
Meanwhile, incumbent Ken Bell is going up against Carly James for the Port of Bellingham Commissioner District 2 position.
Both levies for the rural library district and South Whatcom Fire Authority passed convincingly.
Ballots for the November general election will be mailed out on Oct. 15.
