SKAGIT VALLEY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Tulip farms from around the Skagit Valley are opening early for a bloom that’s coming ahead of schedule.
The valley’s two largest farms, RoozenGaarde and Tulip Valley Farms, are both opening for this spring’s Tulip Festival next Saturday, March 21.
Tulip Town plans to open the following Saturday on March 28 and Garden Rosalyn will spring into action on April 1.
The four primary tulip farms are experiencing what growers have called an early bloom. It’s a product of the mild winter and warmer temperatures we’ve seen.
RoozenGaarde says it’s anticipating its first tulips in the coming days before possibly seeing a full bloom later in the month.
The Tulip Festival usually runs through the end of April, but given the earlier start to the season, RoozenGarde says it may end a little earlier than usual.
