Editor’s Note: Story updated a 6:18 p.m. on 8/27/26 to reflect a revised WARN notice from T-Mobile.

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – T-Mobile will not be closing one of its stores in Bellingham.

A spokesperson for the company said in an email to My Bellingham Now that they erred in their original WARN notice to the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD). The notice originally stated that T-Mobile expected to close its location on West Bakerview Road and I-5 near Costco.

According to the filing with ESD, T-Mobile is permanently laying off 77 workers starting on Sept. 21 and lasting through Nov. 18.

The layoffs are taking place across the state, but the company has not stated how many are taking place in Bellingham specifically. The WARN notice stated that some of the layoffs will take place at the aforementioned location near Costco and also at its call center on Bakerview near Bellis Fair Mall, though both locations will remain open.

Overall, the affected jobs range from directors and managers to account support and retail sales positions.

According to the filing, some of the affected employees have been offered the chance to relocate. T-Mobile says it has or will provide those impacted with at least sixty days advance notice.

The company said in an emailed statement to MBN: “We’re evolving our retail strategy toward a more concentrated portfolio of stores that are increasingly company-operated.”
