Troy Dannen is out as athletic director at the University of Washington less than six months after taking the job last fall.

Dannen is heading to the University of Nebraska to be their newest AD, where he’s expected to sign a six-year deal.

It follows the departure of former Nebraska AD Trev Alberts, who left for Texas A&M last week.

Dannen oversaw the Huskies’ transition from Kaleb DeBoer to Jedd Fisch as head football coach after the team’s national title game appearance.

He was also in the middle of a search to replace Mike Hopkins as the school’s basketball coach after he was let go earlier this month.

A former Husky star is making his return to the NBA.

The Phoenix Suns have signed two-time All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract.

Thomas has a career scoring average of just under 18 points per game while playing for 10 different teams.

The 35-year-old hasn’t played in the league since 2022.

Huskies fans will remember him for his time at UW, highlighted by his iconic buzzer beater in the 2011 Pac-10 Tournament Championship Game.

The Seattle Reign are being sold to a group that includes the Seattle Sounders.

OL Groupe announced earlier this week that it’s selling the team for $58 million.

They represent about 97% of the club’s share capital.

OL Groupe bought the Reign for $3.5 million back in 2019.

It says the sale is part of the group’s strategy to refocus on men’s soccer.

And this Western Washington University runner has been honored as the best in his conference.

Junior Kevin McDermott was just chosen as the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year.

McDermott became the second man in the conference’s history to win the gold medal trio in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters at the Indoor Championships last month.

He also set the school record in three distance events during the regular season.

It comes following a successful cross country season where he won an individual title at the GNAC Cross Country Championships.

McDermott becomes just the third Viking to win the GNAC Indoor Male Athlete of the Year in program history.

Coming up on the radio today, it’s the final games of the NCAA tournament First Four.

16 seeds Montana State and Grambling are duking it out at 3:30 p.m. for a chance to play top-seeded Purdue.

After that, Pac-12 tournament runner-up Colorado is taking on Boise State in a battle of 10 seeds with a matchup against 7th-seeded Florida on the line.

Catch both those games on KPUG AM 1170 and 97-9 FM.
