BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A trio of Bellingham businesses have announced they’re closing their doors in the coming weeks.

Luna’s Bistro in Barkley Village says that their final day in service will be this Friday, Sept. 11. In a social media post, Luna’s owners say they’ve decided to retire after running the restaurant for the past 15 years.

Downtown taco spot Red Star says they’ll be closing down on Sept. 25 after two years in business. Ownership says that they’ll be focusing on their other business, Sweet Bay Cafe, which is located in the same building on N State Street.

And in Fairhaven, owners of the Corner Taphouse say they have little choice but to shut down at the end of the month. They said that they were offered a new lease that’s 80% higher than their current rent, which their owners say is unsustainable given the rising costs of everything else.

All three businesses are encouraging customers to pop in for one last beverage or meal before their respective closure dates.

This comes as at least two other businesses in downtown Bellingham plan to shutter their doors in the next month.

Rock and Rye Oyster House will be closing on Sept. 26 after 12 years in business on N State Street. The Temple Bar was put up for sale earlier this summer, and the business plans to have what they called “extra innings” after a temporary closure from Sept. 16 through their final day of business on Oct. 3.
