EVERSON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – No one was injured following a structure fire at a home near Everson on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 22.

Whatcom County Fire District 1 says crews responded to the fire around 6:10 a.m. near the intersection of E. Pole and Everson Goshen roads.

Witnesses say the residence was filled with smoke and visible fire was coming from beneath the building. All the occupants of the building were safely evacuated before fire crews arrived.

Several local fire stations helped shuttle water to the scene since it took place in an area without fire hydrants.

Fire District 1 says the building suffered significant damage, as the American Red Cross offered help to two residents who were displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.
