BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Western Washington University student was the victim of an attempted fondling incident near campus over the weekend.

The university said in a campus advisory that the student was walking in the Sehome Arboretum around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, when he was approached by an older man.

The student told police that the suspect grabbed his arm and tried to fondle him before making off towards the top of the hill.

University Police and Bellingham Police both searched the area but could not find the suspect.

He’s believed to be between 50 and 70 years old with a dark complexion and a thin, average build. The suspect was wearing blue sweatpants and a baseball cap during the event.

Bellingham Police have not yet confirmed whether the incident is still under investigation.
