WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Prices at the pump are dropping around the country, but the same can’t be said for Whatcom County.

AAA reports that the average gallon of gas costs $4.30 in the county, which is up over five percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, the national average has fallen eight percent from the same time last year.

Washington still has the third-highest gas prices in the country.

Whatcom residents are paying 36% more than that national average.

AAA says storms could affect gas production and distribution as we near peak hurricane season, but prices aren’t expected to make any major changes for now.
