WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Residents in Whatcom County are also being advised to prepare for moderate flooding.

The National Weather Service in Seattle (NWS) has issued a flood warning for portions of the Nooksack River through 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11.

The Nooksack River at Ferndale is expected to see the most flooding when it crests around 21 ft. on Thursday afternoon, which puts it just above the moderate flood stage.

Meanwhile, the South Fork of the Nooksack River near Acme is projected to reach its peak on Wednesday night, which is also within moderate flood stage levels. Everson Police are advising residents to prepare for similar conditions that residents saw during the February 2020 floods.

They add that public works crews in Everson, Nooksack and Sumas have been placing sandbags along Everson Road.

Residents are able to pick up additional sandbags at the Everson City Shop on 605 Robinson Street.
