WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Overnight travelers should expect some slowdowns on I-5 between Whatcom and Skagit Counties.

WSDOT crews will have both directions of I-5 down to one lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight through Friday morning.

The left lanes will close near the Alger Road exit, while the right lanes will close near North Lake Samish Road.

Crews are preparing the area for a fish passage project that will kick into high gear later this spring.

In Whatcom County, a handful of ramp closures are also on the horizon.

Tomorrow night, the SB on-ramp from Meridian Street will shut down for a few hours.

Wednesday will see two overnight closures: the NB on-ramp from Bakerview Rd and the SB on-ramp from Iowa Street.

A handful of closures take effect Thursday night, including the NB off-ramp to Peace Portal Drive, the on ramp from Bakerview Road, and both the SB right lane and the off-ramp to Northwest Avenue.
