WWU falls to UT Tyler in championship series opener

LONGWOOD, FL (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Western Washington University softball team were shut out by the University of Texas at Tyler 3-0 in the NCAA Championship Series opener.

The Vikings made their way through the challenging bracket, winning their previous three games to make it to the championship series.

Both teams failed to get on the scoreboard until UT Tyler nailed a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning. The Vikings finished the game with only four hits and a total of six runners left on base.

The Vikings with continue to battle UT Tyler on Saturday, May 24, for game two of the three game series. If the Vikings win game two, a third and final game will be played on Sunday with the winner taking home the title.
